And again time is against me, however I am moving forward

Well, there just seems to be too much to do in life and time does keep getting away from me. Saying that I have met some awesome people in the last few busy months and am keeping in regular contact with them. Namely an author and an editor/publisher. Acashic is also throwing their help at me. Well after I spoke to them bluntly about trying to help their authors get their work out there. After all, if we are popular, they become well known. They want a short story off of me, unfortunately, I am not much of a short story writer. I am much more in for the long haul. Creating a family and putting them through their lives so others can watch and enjoy. I have been working closely with my new friends/contacts and my writing is looking better. Yes I know I am not the best at English, but I am more than willing to learn. Any help I can get I will take and then build on. I would like to thank every one who has been supporting me and waiting for my next lot of work. I promise that it will be worth the wait. I have also got the ball rolling to fix the small glitch with anywhere I post on my website. I am hoping the error message will be fixed soon. DCDaines back to reality.

Time may be moving way to fast, but life is looking good

Well, time is always against us and today is no different.  The only difference being I have a great attitude, my first novel in front of me and inspiring words from a fellow author I would now call a friend.  His input has steered me closer to becoming the writer I want to be and that is one step closer to my life goal.  I have started the promotion trail again, with the addition of Blink’s profile from a great artist, one of the best, if not the best digital artist I have ever seen.  Life is full of ups and downs, however at this time I can honestly say, life is full of more positives and time can keep getting away from me as long as moments like this do not escape me.   More links to these great people and their own pages will happen in the weeks to come, stay tuned J

    The Woes Of A Writer!

One would think getting published would be a dream come true.  I know, even I thought so.  My dream was to become published and possibly even a little bit important.  Well, I know importance is in the eye of the beholder so in a way I have become more important.  My writing certainly is to the people that have read my first book, loved it and are awaiting my second.  Unfortunately, I trusted the wrong publishing company.  They have done little more than make demands of my writing and myself and even wanted a short story for their anthology.  I kindly refused upon receiving their conditions…  Yet they have given little to nothing back to me and most importantly, to my readers. I asked the simple questions when they signed me.  Are you a genuine publishing company?  Are you interested in my writing for its merits, not what you can bleed me for as an author?  Well, the answers given were clear and I signed with them.  However, splitting the costs for advertising and a few other ventures later I would have to say they are not too short of being a vanity press.  Since signing with them, they have shown all the signs of such an organisation.  Much to my dismay, after all I did do a lot of research before I signed, obviously not enough! Now this has been my hurdle for the last few months, the reason amongst a few others that I have not kept my...

    Swan con here I come.

Am I Doomed to begin with?  With a Post apocalyptic theme I believe I can not go wrong.  Thinking up the worst scenario and running with it is a speciality of mine, or is it a flaw in my personality? Doom con looks like it may just proove to be an awesome event.  I know my kids are excited, they have some things in the art show.  They are also coming to see my on Friday I have a book launch, three panels I will help on and many other things that I am sure will pop up throughout the convention. Any-ways, enough of this, back to preparing.  As usual I am leaving everything to the last moment… If you would like to Join us at the Pan Pacific hotel for the celebration of the end of the world as we know it, jump in on Friday for gold coin entry day and say hello… 🙂

    The joys of being published

I must admit, I am more than pleased to have been picked up a publisher that has loved my work enough to publish my book.  But man.  If an author tells you being published is easy, they either have an awesome publisher, or an insanely good agent. Between the promoting, organising events, publishing material and trying to now sort out facebook and my web page, I have barely had a second to write.  A few tid bits here and there but nothing substantial.  Then again, who am I to complain? Today is a new day.  Time to clean up all the posters, shirts, hats postcards, magnets and various other promotional material and put them to the side.  Set my laptop up in a comfortable location and then write… Life is full of challenges and I reckon this is one that I have set that I am more than comfortable to attack. WE are the Strays, we are strong, we are the chosen, we are the…

    And the Saga Starts

Well, the time has come.  I am no longer just a teller of the past.  I am now also a teller of the present and my future.  These internet pages have taken many months to put together and I am sure that over the many years I will be writing, they will be added to frequently.  I hope you enjoy them as much as we have enjoyed populating them and I would love your opinion and more so, your friendship as we launch this site and my first novel, The Star Crystal.  If you are a little shy and don’t want to post so others can see, just drop me a line, otherwise please jump on, join up and let us know your thoughts about this site and its content.  After all, this journey I am on is awesome and the more people on the ride, the more we all get out of it.

Character profiles

Gunnery “Like taking candy from a baby.”
The Gunnery is like his brother. He has one person in his life that matters. Himself, just don’t stand in his way.
Lord Dragoon “Do not disobey me!” The head of The Company, he has enjoyed many advantages throughout his long life. The Councill is his direct report in theory, though he more then manipulates them into doing what he requires. He has an evil agenda and I pity all that stand in his way, even his son…

About DC Daines

It’s not a man’s thoughts that make him evil.
It’s what he does with those thoughts..

The world of “The Star Crystal” was something that I did not make up. Rather it came to me in a time of need. After many years working in the same job, I turned up to work, got myself stuck in a drum heating oven. Just imagine a massive, double-door steel box. Freaked out with mass claustrophobia and phoned my partner in crime. I can still remember those words, “I know that we have only been here for fifteen minutes, but I really need to go for a break.”
