Has The Hunt Really Evolved? {PART 4}

    Has The Hunt Really Evolved? {PART 4}

    Has The Hunt Really Evolved? {PART 4} This is dadeclan back to you with my news and opinions about TVshows and movies. In my latest blog about “Predator 3” {1990} I discussed that this movie well met my expectations, it had unexpected turnouts and curveballs that you wouldn’t see coming. In this blog I will be discussing my thoughts on “The Predator” {2018}. The Predator {2018} The latest predator movie, “The Predator” {2018} was the first movie I watched out of the franchise. (Let’s thank my dad for that) I would have to say this would have to be my favourite movie out of them all.  Not only was it enthralling but you got to see a lot of scenes with the predator in action. (That’s what I like). Even though it didn’t have the same environment/ feel, it was still the Predator. In my opinion I would say “yes the hunt has evolved”, but that’s just me; I was born into the new age of TV and film. The only thing that I disliked about this movie was that they tried to make it a comedy and the jokes just weren’t that funny. And the other thing is that the predator always went invisible during the old movies, but I swear I didn’t see it go invisible once in “The Predator” {2018}. The main reason I feel that the fans of the old movies won’t like the new one, was because it didn’t have the same feel to the...

    The new informative “As Declan Sees it”

    As my son has pointed out to me, we just do not do enough to make this website look loved. Sorry for the neglect. As a thank you for putting up with my inactivity; Declan, my son, has offered to add in a new blog called, As Declan sees it. You will feel the love, or pain… that I feel everyday as he bombards me with reviews on movies, TV shows, and the news in relation to them. Hope you enjoy.

    Off to Supanova again

    Off to Supanova Perth again this weekend.  I really am planning to make it a better experience than last year.  Hopefully with the drop in price of the book after 12 months then I can pick up a few more readers.  I do believe that $10.00 is a much more reasonable price for the book than what the publisher was originally asking 🙂

    Continuum, the continuation of a sci fi tradition?

    Continuum, is it the continuation of an old Sci-Fi theme or the start of a new one.  No matter the era, time travel has always been a big part of science fiction.  Be it H.G. Wells “The Time Machine.” James Cameron’s “The Terminator”, … in “Quantum leap” “Time Traxx” or even Michael J Fox in “Back to the Future”, the concepts and opinion on how you would travel through time and what would happen to your future or past due to this time travel are different. Continuum is no stranger to this in its unique representation of its main theme.  Time travel is possible, though its method is somewhat different. Starting with the joining of 6 items to create a time travel ball and subsequently a time bubble that engulfs six convicted terrorists in their hour of execution. Unfortunately? innocents are also caught in this ripple and sent back in time to a predestined date . However the date is not the one they were destined to go back to, or was it? The first thing I noticed about Continuum was that you can not expect the predictable to happen, starting with the first few minutes of the show.  Imagine a futuristic world run by the companies, owned by the companies.  Then imagine that world reverting back in time, seamlessly changing into ours.  The special effects definitely do not disappoint.  The second thing I noticed was unfortunate as I had at that moment entered a pre set idea of the quality...

    The Truth about the Journey to Become a Published Author

    Putting pen to paper, fingers to keyboard or voice to the recorder are art forms in themselves. We all have our reasons for expressing ourselves through these avenues, and may not all want to be writers, authors or even published, however as artists most of us want to get our work out there so other can enjoy it. This is how I started, I have no interest in the money, I just want to get my story out there for others to enjoy. The laughter, shocked look, the praise of our peers, it is all worth more than money. Unfortunately, there are people in this world that will misuse or even abuse our gifts. Below are some hints and tips on how to ensure you get the most opportunities and the least dismay as possible towards getting published and even some tips for afterwards. However, don’t forget, this is a slow moving business, take your time, and do not be in a hurry as books aren’t written in a day and getting published can be a long and arduous task. Saying that, this is only my experience and my most important tip for you would be, talk to others, ask the questions, compare experiences and make your own decisions for your circumstance. Before I start listing points I would like to make a comment that is so true in artistic circles and will also serve you well in your life no matter what you do. “Take your praise with humility...

    Promoting your book 101

    Advertising, publicity, getting your name out there cheaply. These are things I have been trying to do, however there is no sure way that I can see to get quick and unparalleled results and there is no such thing as cheap publicity as cheap is not what you want people to see you as. I could babble all day, I am good at that, however I would prefer to just let you know what I have done and what seem to work for me. You can then get out into the fold with some knowledge that will hopefully help you make the right decisions. 1 Attend conventions. You should do your homework, find out which ones would suite your genre. You can attend Swan-con, Wai-con, Supanova, Comicon there are also smaller ones that I have attended like Nexus. You don’t have to attend as a seller. You can attend as a fan. Example. Year one I attended Wai-con as a seller. I mingled with the fans, passed out my business cards and sold some books. Best of all I made many contacts and friends. Year two I attended as a fan, back pack and books in tow. I sold 9 books and passed out over 200 photo’s of my character Blink. Hint, 5c to 9c prints, look great and people love them. This is exposure and all it cost was a ticket into the venue and a day of my time and of course the 200 photos. All of which...

    And again time is against me, however I am moving forward

    Well, there just seems to be too much to do in life and time does keep getting away from me. Saying that I have met some awesome people in the last few busy months and am keeping in regular contact with them. Namely an author and an editor/publisher. Acashic is also throwing their help at me. Well after I spoke to them bluntly about trying to help their authors get their work out there. After all, if we are popular, they become well known. They want a short story off of me, unfortunately, I am not much of a short story writer. I am much more in for the long haul. Creating a family and putting them through their lives so others can watch and enjoy. I have been working closely with my new friends/contacts and my writing is looking better. Yes I know I am not the best at English, but I am more than willing to learn. Any help I can get I will take and then build on. I would like to thank every one who has been supporting me and waiting for my next lot of work. I promise that it will be worth the wait. I have also got the ball rolling to fix the small glitch with anywhere I post on my website. I am hoping the error message will be fixed soon. DCDaines back to reality.

Character profiles

Gunnery “Like taking candy from a baby.”
The Gunnery is like his brother. He has one person in his life that matters. Himself, just don’t stand in his way.
Lord Dragoon “Do not disobey me!” The head of The Company, he has enjoyed many advantages throughout his long life. The Councill is his direct report in theory, though he more then manipulates them into doing what he requires. He has an evil agenda and I pity all that stand in his way, even his son…

About DC Daines

It’s not a man’s thoughts that make him evil.
It’s what he does with those thoughts..

The world of “The Star Crystal” was something that I did not make up. Rather it came to me in a time of need. After many years working in the same job, I turned up to work, got myself stuck in a drum heating oven. Just imagine a massive, double-door steel box. Freaked out with mass claustrophobia and phoned my partner in crime. I can still remember those words, “I know that we have only been here for fifteen minutes, but I really need to go for a break.”
